As we mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and France, and the 9th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, the Climate Working Group of China Committee of French Foreign Trade Advisors (CCE China), the Centre des Entreprises Françaises / Francophones à Hongqiao (CEFF Hongqiao), and the Low-carbon Economy Service Committee of Shanghai Services Federation (SSF) convened the 4th Franco-Chinese Carbon Neutrality Forum in Shanghai on December 12, 2024.
With the theme “Celebrating Milestones, Embracing Challenges,” the event brought together a panel of Chinese and French experts, scholars, and key committee members. Akila’s Vice President, Philippe OBRY, was honored to accept an award and share his perspectives on the pivotal role of digital technology in energy transition and minimizing carbon footprints.
Digital twins are at the heart of Akila’s technology and a powerful asset in today’s energy transition strategies. In his speech, Philippe OBRY emphasized that enhancing energy efficiency and reducing consumption are crucial for reaching net-zero objectives. Digital twins mirror the performance of physical structures and their equipment in real time, enabling the simulation and testing of optimal strategies to achieve corporate ESG carbon neutrality goals.
Sustainable development is an ongoing journey, and digital systems are the catalysts for progress. Leveraging its extensive expertise in digital twins and AI, along with a global team of specialists, Akila is dedicated to making steady progress toward net-zero goals.
Visualization is the initial step, showcasing real-time data through digital twins and tailored dashboards. System optimization follows, where Akila integrates various management systems, breaking down data silos, and enhancing cross-site management. Drawing from our experience and deployed projects, we’ve achieved up to 30-40% reductions in energy use and carbon emissions across various building types, from office spaces to industrial facilities. The next phase involves simulation and modification, including material swaps, utility upgrades, and equipment enhancements like air compressors. By merging AI with digital twins, Akila can model the outcomes of these modifications, guiding decision-makers towards the most effective solutions.
With the successful conclusion of the 4th Franco-Chinese Carbon Neutrality Forum, Akila remains committed to collaborating with international partners and leaders. We will continue to build on our successes, confront challenges, and harness the power of digitalization to forge new avenues in sustainable development.
